Senior Mental Health Nurse - Consultation Liaison

Salary: $110,704 to 123,955 (PSA) based on skills and experience
Kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role
Consult Liaison provides support, education and advice to treating teams within Wellington hospital. The Consult Liaison also provides assessment and treatment to patient’s requiring urgent Mental Health care whilst experiencing an episode of physical illness. The Consult Liaison will also support specialists assessments such as capacity and consent for transplants.

Consult Liaison is a small multi – disciplinary team based at Wellington Hospital. The team is comprised of psychiatrists, psychiatric registrars, a psychologist, psychologist interns, nurses and administration staff. We regularly welcome nursing and medical students. We offer a supportive and friendly work environment with ongoing opportunities for education and professional development.
Moū – About you
The successful candidate will:
- Be able to work at senior nurse level and be part of a small multi-disciplinary team whilst being able to work independently whilst being supported by the team.
- Have excellent communication skills.
- Work within an holistic framework and apply critical thinking an problem solving skills.
- Provide urgent and planned assessments, present the findings to both Consultation Liaison Multi disciplinary (MDT) teams as well as to wider MDTs within the hospital and provide planned nursing care to achieve identified outcomes.
Skills & Experience –
- Have a NZ Registered Nurse registration and hold a current Annual practising certificate, Ideally have completed a post graduate Certificate in a relevant area of speciality practice.
- Demonstrates an understanding of the significance of and the obligations under Te Tiriti O Waitangi.
- A commitment to achieving equitable outcomes for Maori.
- High attainment/maintenance of PDRP.
- Full drivers license.
You will be required to complete training to become a Duly Authorised Officer for the Mental Health Act (1992) within 6 months of starting the role.
