Clinical Nurse Coordinator – Dental & Oral Surgery

About the Role 

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse to join our small, supportive team as a Clinical Nurse Coordinator (Dental and Oral Surgery). This 0.5 FTE role plays a key part in coordinating elective dental and oral surgery services for both paediatric and adult patients across the Wellington and Hutt Valley districts.

Working within a collaborative partnership model of care, you will coordinate patients' surgical journey from the time they are waitlisted through to their treatment, ensuring a seamless and patient-centred experience for patients and whānau. You will work closely with Dental Booking Administrator, clinicians, and multidisciplinary teams across both districts to support effective service delivery and achievement of waitlist management targets.

This role offers the opportunity to work autonomously while being part of a dedicated and supportive team. A comprehensive orientation will be provided to ensure your success in the role.

Hours of work: 20 hours per week, preferably worked over four days (approximately 5 hours per day), with some flexibility around start and finish times. The role also offers the benefits of public holidays off and a scheduled service closure over the Christmas and New Year period.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior nurse with strong organisational, communication, and coordination skills who enjoys working collaboratively to achieve the best possible outcomes for patients and whānau.

About the Team/Service/Location 

Our Planned Care team is a small, supportive, and highly collaborative group dedicated to ensuring patients receive timely access to surgical care across the Wellington and Hutt Valley districts.

The team consists of a Planned Care Manager, who provides leadership, oversight, and support to the service, Clinical Nurse Coordinators who advocate for patients and whānau while coordinating and navigating their surgical journey, and a skilled administration team who work alongside the Nurse Coordinators to deliver a seamless patient experience.

We work closely with consultants, theatre teams, inpatient wards, and a range of specialist services to support patients through their surgical pathway. This collaboration creates a dynamic and rewarding environment where no two days are the same, and where teamwork is at the heart of achieving the best outcomes for our patients and whānau.

About you 

To be successful in this role, you will be a highly organised Registered Nurse with a patient-centred approach and a passion for coordinating quality care.

You will bring:

• Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate, along with the legal right to work in New Zealand.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with patients, whānau, clinicians, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong organisational and coordination skills, with the ability to effectively manage competing priorities in a busy environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and electronic scheduling/calendar systems.
• A proactive and adaptable approach, with a commitment to continuous improvement and high-quality patient outcomes.
