Contract: 0.5FTE Part Time Fixed Term One Year

Kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role

Are you looking for an exciting new opportunity?  Are you interested in establishing and leading a new workforce development initiative?  Then this role is for you.

This role is focused on supporting and developing the next generation of clinical psychologists.  The Psychology Intern Coordinator will lead the development and implementation of the psychology intern hub across Mental Health, Addictions and Intellectual Disability (MHAID) Services in the sub-region (Wairarapa, Capital, Coast & Hutt Valley). 

This dynamic and varied role requires you to work closely with the project governance team and stakeholders (including Tertiary Education Providers) throughout the sub-region to establish, roll out and evaluate this exciting new initiative. 

The successful applicant will be able to work autonomously, as part of the learning and development team and members of MHAIDS.   

The successful candidate will be: 

  • an excellent communicator who can forge strong relationships with stakeholders 
  • able to manage a complex project and be well organised 
  • an experienced clinical psychologist 
  • have proven supervision skills 
  • committed to excellence in mental health practice and the development of others

Mō tō mātou rōpū – About our team

MHAIDS Learning and Development are a diverse team of Educators, Instructional Designers and Administrators with a range of experience from relatively new to 20+ years of experience in education or training.  Each of our team have their own brief on the areas they deliver education but the vision is to create a supportive cohesive team. The team is responsible for organising and delivering programs that support workforce development and capability across all MHAIDS staff. We also work collaboratively with other subject matter experts (Lived experience, Whānau,) to deliver training in a variety of other areas.

Moū – About you

Our Psychology Intern Coordinator needs to be passionate about growing and developing the clinical psychology workforce.  Ideally, you will have knowledge of the educational requirements and support needs for psychology interns.  You will be a New Zealand Registered Clinical Psychologist with a current APC and professional membership.  You will have proven supervision skills.  Being able to work autonomously and maintain effective key relationships are attributes for this position to be effective.

A good sense of humour would be beneficial but not essential in doing this role but there are times when the challenges can seem difficult. A capacity to work both independently and as part of a team is vital to the role.
