New Zealand Capital and Coast District Health Board is one of 20 District Health Boards (DHBs) located throughout New Zealand. We serve a population of about 270,000 and provide specialist services for a regional population of about 900,000 delivering community, primary, secondary and tertiary health services. We are one of New Zealand’s largest tertiary hospitals and renowned for teaching and research opportunities.
Our Regional Hosptial facilities in Wellington and our smaller Satellite hospital at Kenepuru offer modern facilities and systems to support you in the delivery of care. A vacancy (commencing in September) has created an opportunity for you to consider either a permanent or short term move to Wellington. The service is at an exciting stage of development with the creation of a second Senior Medical Officer position and potential development of a regional approach to rehabilitation.
Our Multidisciplinary Health of Older People and Rehabilitation team is currently made up of 6 Geriatrician positions and 1.4 Rehabilitation Physicians. Applications are welcome from those seeking a full-time position or short to medium term locum. Clinical duties will include a combination of inpatient services at Kenepuru, outpatient and community work across the different sites at Wellington and Kenepuru. There is also participation in a 1:7 - 8 on-call roster.
As a senior medical officer, you will provide consultant services to patients requiring your specialist care and act as an educator and mentor to our junior medical staff attached to the unit. You will be known by your peers as someone who works to improve the way services are developed and delivered, working towards improving service delivery and supporting the strategic direction of the service through your specialist experience and broad approach to future planning. Our multi-disciplinary model requires health professionals to be focused on achieving results and developing and maintaining good working relationships in the workplace.
Wellington is an exciting city, the capital city of New Zealand – offering that often sought after work life balance whether your interests be arts/culture or more outdoors in nature. If you are interested in this role, we would be delighted to receive your application.
