Plumbing Supervisor

About the Role

This position plays a key role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of our hospital’s plumbing infrastructure. You will oversee planned maintenance, respond to reactive repair needs, and deliver asset upgrades that keep our facilities operating smoothly. The role also contributes to capital works and national health projects, supporting the long‑term development of our sites.

Working within Technical Services and reporting to the Wellington Plumbing Services Manager, you’ll be the go‑to expert for plumbing reliability and compliance across the site, with occasional support to other Wellington hospital locations.

This is a full-time position, with a rostered on-call requirement.

The salary band for this role is is $95,554 - $98,795, depending on experience.

About you

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:

  • Experience as a plumber with proven capability in commercial, healthcare, or other complex building systems.
  • A strong understanding of plumbing compliance, building codes, health and safety legislation, and the requirements of commercial infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated skill in leading, coordinating, and supporting tradespeople and contractors in a busy operational environment.
  • Confident digital literacy, including the ability to use asset management systems, maintenance software, and other digital tools effectively.

About the Team/Service Location

Based at the Workshop at the Hutt site, supervising two plumbers, and supporting contractors and departmental staff. The plumbing team works alongside the other trade teams based in the same area, operating both independently and collaboratively with trades and contractors to ensure safe and reliable services that support Hutt Hospital’s operations.
