Quality & Risk Team Leader (Pharmacy)

An exciting opportunity exists for a new position in our Pharmacy Leadership Team at CCDHB. We are looking for an experienced pharmacist for a Quality & Risk Team Leader position to support our Pharmacy services in the development and implementation of continuous quality assurance and improvement processes. 

Our pharmacy services consist of operational, clinical and aseptic production services. This role will cover all aspects of our Pharmacy services including maintaining, developing and assuring the quality of our clinical Pharmacy services and the Aseptic Production Unit. The successful applicant will work closely with the Operations Team Leader, Aseptic Production Unit Team Leader, Clinical Team Leader and Pharmacy Service Manager to plan and achieve the service’s vision and goals.

The position would be suitable for an enthusiastic pharmacist with experience in hospital pharmacy, a flair for innovation and a passion for enhancing the quality of pharmacy services. You will act as a role model within the team and lead the continuous quality / assurance improvement activities within the Pharmacy service.  Previous hospital experience in quality management is a distinct advantage in this role.

DUTIES 

As a team leader, you will actively support staff including monitoring allocation of resources and anticipating changing requirements that any impact on work delivery and ability to meet the needs of the patient / consumer / tangata whaiora in an efficient, accessible and equitable manner.  You will also oversee the other pharmacy staff involved in decision support projects or work, such as Medication safety, Medicines Information, PML and Informatics, and Education and Training.

There is also a clinical component to this role – clinical and team leader duties will be split approximately 50:50.  In this clinical role you will lead clinical practice through alignment with recognised best practice and relevant clinical policies and practice guidelines.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor degree in Pharmacy (recognised in NZ) or equivalent
  • NZ registered pharmacist
  • At least 7 years practice working in a health or other relevant setting.
  • Post-graduate clinical knowledge acquired through diploma level training (i.e. Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent) - desirable

Applicants must be registered with the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand or be eligible for registration in New Zealand.
