About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Specialty Clinical Nurse (Senior Mental Health Nurse) to join a dynamic consult liaison role in Paediatric and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) ED Consult Liaison. The salary range for this role is Senior Nurse as Per MECA determined by experience $ 116,876–$124,480.

About the Team/Service/ Location

In this rewarding role, you will be committed to delivering high-quality person and whānau-centred care for tamariki and rangatahi, under the age of 18, experiencing moderate to severe mental health challenges. This role involves working collaboratively, providing service coordination, completing assessments, brief interventions and support, and mental health education and guidance to clinical staff- thus making a real difference in the lives of young people and their families, and growing confidence in clinicians. You will work in hospital wards (Children’s hospital, General wards in Wellington Hospital, & ICU), ED, with CAMHS Teams, CRS and Mental Health EDclinicians, so a wide supportive bunch of people.

About you

We’re looking for a Registered Specialty Clinical Nurse (Senior Mental Health Nurse) who:

• Has 3+ years mental health nursing experience preferably working with children and young people, certainly in Mental health, and is keen to develop expertise in assessment and brief interventions.
• Is skilled in mental health assessments, risk evaluation, and crisis response.
• Passionate, motivated, and innovative.
• Comfortable working with a range of physical and mental health clinical presentations.
• A strong team player with excellent communication skills.
• Experience or interest in areas such as Eating disorders, Functional Neurological Disorders, CBT, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), family therapy, trauma-informed practice, or sensory modulation would be highly valued.
• Being a qualified DAO (Duly Authorised Officer) is highly valued or interest to become qualified.
• Is confident working within a team environment and autonomously.
• Thrives in a collaborative, forward-thinking environment.
• Has worked in a bi-cultural and multi-cultural practice and is community focused.

In this Role, you will:

• Work in partnership providing mental health assessment and brief intervention for infants, children, young people, and their families to create positive outcomes.
• provide risk assessment, formulation and risk management planning.
• Create tailored, high-quality care plans to manage complex behavioural or cognitive presentations on medical wards.
• Facilitate discharge planning and community engagement.
• Collaborate with community partners and multidisciplinary colleagues throughout the hospital and community sectors.
• Act as a direct liaison between general medical teams and CAMHS teams/ specialist teams, and Community agencies to support safe transitions of care.
• Deliver upscale clinical education and upskill general nursing staff.
