Administrator - Emergency Department

Location: Wellington Regional Hospital
Contract: Fixed-term to October 2026, part-time (0.5 FTE)

About the Role
We’re looking for someone to join our Administration Support Team in Te Pae Tiaki │Emergency Department at Wellington Regional Hospital on a part-time basis working 20 hours per week.
As an ED Team Support Administrator your role is to provide timely, professional and high-quality administrative services to the Clinical Leader, the Nurse Manager, the Director of Emergency Medicine Training and the Senior Nursing Team of the Emergency Department.
Your role will include (but is not limited to) the following:
- Calendar Management for the Nurse Manager and Clinical Lead
- Recruitment administration support for new staff in ED
- Working with FPIM for invoicing and procurement
- Feedback Management – Compliments and Complaints process
- ED RMO Rostering and day to day maintenance
- ED RMO orientation administration support
- Payroll administration
- Nursing Education Administration support
- Supporting Clinical Lead with ACEM accreditation administration tasks
The role enables the day-to-day operation in ED to function smoothly and provide the team with the support they need to operate efficiently and effectively.
About the Team/Service/Location
Te Pae Tiaki | Emergency Department is a mixed adult-paediatric department (20% children) with around 65,000 annual presentations and an admission rate of 40%; it is also the regional tertiary and trauma centre and is supported in-house by most specialties. We have a 6-bed ED Observation Unit, a fully functional Minor Care Zone (Rohe Kākāriki) and a separate paediatric zone (Wahi Tamariki).
Our team is passionate about the work they do, ensuring patients receive high-quality care and support. You’ll be joining a friendly, supportive and dedicated team of clinical and non-clinical staff that supports the day-to-day management of our nursing, medical and wider ED Team.
About you
To be successful in this position you will need to demonstrate the following:
- A high level of Word Processing skills, with demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to maintain patient and office confidentiality in line with the Privacy Act.
- Previous experience in providing administrative support to a team.
- Proven experience in a people-facing administrative, customer service or call centre role
- Working knowledge of computer programs including Word, Excel, Outlook and PMS.
- Process driven with sound knowledge of office administration systems and procedures
- Previous experience in a health environment is desirable
