About the Role 

Are you an experienced administrator who thrives well under pressure and has a keen eye for detail?  The Forensic and Rehabilitation Director of Area Mental Health (DAMHS) is looking for additional support in the smooth running of a busy office by providing efficient and timely administrative support that is responsive and flexible to the changing needs of the Service. We are looking for someone who can work to strict deadlines, works well under pressure and can handle several things at once including: 

  • Processing of legal documentation
  • Collate required reporting data
  • Other tasks including running reports, meetings, sorting correspondence and helping your colleagues with their workloads.

This position is 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for additional hours as service needs evolve. We offer flexibility in how the hours are worked, allowing the successful candidate to structure their schedule in a way that suits both their needs and the service requirements.

The salary band for this role is $73,476 - $81,164 (pro-rata), depending on experience. 

About the Team/Service/ Location 

Te Korowai Whāriki is a regional and national service provider with its own unique identity and stakeholders. Staff are based in various locations in the Central Region, from Gisborne to Whanganui through to Wellington.  Te Korowai Whāriki services are both inpatient and community based. 

The role of the Regional Forensic and Rehabilitation Inpatient Mental Health Service at Te Korowai Whāriki is to provide inpatient and outpatient care for both youth and adult clients. The regional arm includes the Central Regional Forensic Mental Health Service, Youth Forensic Service and Rehabilitation and Extended Care inpatient Service. This position is located in the regional arm of Te Korowai Whāriki which includes the Central Regional Forensic Mental Health Service.  The Forensic Mental Health Service operates at the interface between Mental Health Services and the Justice System and works within the following settings – prisons, courts, community, and inpatient. 

About you 

We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills to carry out a variety of administrative duties to support the Forensic and Rehabilitation DAMHS, and to ensure the DAMHS department runs smoothly.

Ideally, you will bring the following skills and experience:

  • Previous experience in a busy administration role or supporting executive leadership
  • Be good at multitasking, and work well under pressure
  • Excellent word processing and data entry skills, with a strong eye for detail
  • A flexible approach with the ability to successfully prioritise your workload
  • Respectful nature handling confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner
  • Previous experience in the health or legal fields advantageous
