About the Role 

Salary:  $111,240 - $117,420

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced pharmacist to join our team as an Advanced Pharmacist for Mental Health. This is a permanent, full-time role, 40 hours per week.

Whilst this role forms part of the clinical pharmacy service, it will also be a key member of the Mental Health, Addiction & Intellectual Disability Service (MHAIDS). This position would be primarily based at our Porirua Campus, but some cross cover at Wellington may be required.

The Advanced Pharmacist – Mental Health acts as a role model to other pharmacists and provides support, advice and education to the pharmacy department, as well as other healthcare professionals. This role is a key member of the MHAIDS Medicines Advisory Group and provides expert advice on relevant medicines related policies and procedures across the sub-region.

About the Team/Service/Location 

The pharmacy team is well respected by clinicians, nursing staff, and senior management across the organisation, and is constantly looking at ways to improve the service and care it delivers.  We provide a comprehensive pharmacy service throughout to the Capital Coast and Hutt Valley District, which includes a clinical service, dispensary & logistics service, and a quality & risk service. There is also an aseptic production service at Capital & Coast Hospitals (Wellington & Kenepuru). Through these services, we aim to improve the quality and effectiveness of prescribing, supply and distribution of medicines throughout the Capital Coast and Hutt Valley District.  Our teams value professional growth, and emphasizes clinical development and medicines optimization for our patients.

About you 

You will be enthusiastic and have a passion for pharmacy and Mental Health. You will have previous hospital pharmacy experience and the ability to work with a variety of staff from different healthcare professions. Previous experience in mental health is extremely desirable as this role is expected to work autonomously, although training could be provided to the right candidate.

Applicants must be registered with the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand or be eligible for registration in New Zealand.
