Allied Professions Workforce Development Coordinator


Location: Wellington Regional Hospital or Hutt Hospital

Contract: Permanent, Part Time (0.6 FTE, 24 hours per week)

About the Role 

This opportunity would suit an experienced Allied Health, Scientific and Technical (AHST) professional who is looking for an opportunity to support the development of the diverse range of allied professionals employed by Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley (over 40 professions, ~1,500 professionals). This role will provide you variety, continued learning and opportunities to broaden your reach and engagement across our district and beyond. 

The Allied Professions Workforce Development Coordinator enables and supports the provision of a range of workforce development initiatives that grow the capability of allied professionals to meet the needs of our patients and communities and support equitable health outcomes. Examples of the types of activity you may be involved with include: 

  • Supporting teams to harness the benefits of Interprofessional Practice 
  • Coordinating our programme of clinical and professional supervision training (e.g. supervisee; supervisor – new, refresher and advanced; group)
  • Reviewing, developing and implementing direction and delegation training across the district
  • Building capability of those in designated roles (e.g. data-driven decision making)
  • Growing the capability of our assistant workforces, and 
  • Ensuring systems and programmes are in place to provide professional and cultural support for staff and promote professional and cultural capability development. 

About the Team/Service Location 

This role reports to the Director Allied Professions - Workforce Development and works alongside another Coordinator and a number of other roles. This team is part of the wider Allied Professions Leadership Team, responsible for supporting the Chief of Allied Health, Scientific & Technical’s role of providing leadership for allied professionals across the district 

About you 

We are looking for a motivated and proactive AHST professional looking for an opportunity to grow the capability of our diverse workforce across our entire district.

You will bring experience of design, delivery and evaluation of learning and development interventions and a knowledge of adult learning. You will bring well-developed interpersonal skills, as well as good written and verbal communication skills.

Problem solving skills are required, along with good administration and organisational skills, including planning and prioritisation of work. We are looking for someone with knowledge of implementing quality improvement processes and/or project coordination/management skills.

You will hold a relevant AHST qualification and be a registered Allied Health, Scientific & Technical practitioner with a current annual practicing certificate or certification/membership of your professional association (as appropriate), with clinical experience.
