Associate Charge Nurse Manager – Cardiac Theatre
Location: Wellington Regional Hospital
Contract: Fixed Term, 12 Months, Full-Time, 1 FTE

About the Role
As the Associate Clinical Nurse Manager- Cardiac surgery, you will
- Lead a dedicated team focused on providing high-quality patient care in cardiac surgery.
- Manage resource allocation, patient flow, and the utilisation of theatre time to optimise outcomes.
- Navigate complex situations daily, applying critical analysis to develop effective solutions.
- Ensure adherence to operating theatre standards, processes, and policies while
promoting a culture of excellence.
About the Team/Service Location
There is a strong team focus in Theatre and our nursing staff work together and closely with other members of the multidisciplinary team to provide a person/whanau centred approach. The benefits of a team nursing model are considerable, but include improved communication and coordination of care, enhanced support and teaching of clinical decision-making skills, increased patient care and satisfaction, and improved staff satisfaction and retention.
About you
You are an experienced healthcare professional with a strong clinical background and proven leadership abilities. You thrive under pressure and excel at communication and problem-solving. Key attributes include:
- Expertise in the strategic planning and direction of operating theatre services.
- Exceptional skills in patient care coordination, budgeting, and resource management.
- In-depth knowledge of equipment, instrumentation, implants, and specialty consumables.
- Calm and composed demeanour, even in challenging situations.
- Commitment to staff development, quality assurance, and risk compliance.
- Minimum of 3 years’ operating department experience, along with a relevant postgraduate qualification.
