Associate Charge Nurse Manager - Regional Heart & Lung Unit

WE WILL ONLY ACCEPT APPLICATIONS FROM CURRENT TE WHATU ORA EMPLOYEES.

Location: Wellington Regional Hospital

Contract: 0.5 FTE, Permanent

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is dedicated to serving all New Zealanders. Through integration and collaboration, we’re building a health system underpinned by partnership, equity, sustainability, whānau-centred care, and excellence.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team as an Associate Charge Nurse Manager.  This is a pivotal senior nursing role based in the Wellington Regional Heart and Lung Unit (Ward 6 South).  This ward combines the Cardiothoracic Department and Cardiology Services. We have 40 beds, including step-down unit beds for post-operative patients and acute coronary care beds.

As an Associate Charge Nurse Manager your focus is to support the Charge Nurse Manager in the implementation of organisational initiatives and day-to-day management of all nursing areas (people, process, and physical resources) to ensure a safe patient journey.

Our ideal candidate would either have extensive cardiology and cardiothoracic nursing experience, or evidence of practicing at a senior nurse level. This clinical knowledge alongside evidence of post-graduate study will be essential to support change implementation and contribute towards the strategic direction for the unit. You will be providing clinical leadership and professional development opportunities to the team, ensuring increased levels of safe and competent practice.

About the Team

Ward 6 South is a busy cardiac unit that provides tertiary cardiac services for the central NZ region.  The nursing team cares for patients across both cardiology and cardiothoracic specialties.  You will be supported by a committed and focused nursing management team incorporating a Charge Nurse Manager, Associate Charge Nurse Managers, and Clinical Nurse Educators.

About you

You will be an action oriented person who pushes towards the delivery of the highest quality care for the patient/client/whanau and someone who is proactive in advocating for professional and organisational initiatives. You will have previous senior nurse and clinical coordination experience and have a proven team ethic.

You will have significant nursing experience and knowledge, ideally including clinical knowledge of cardiac nursing.  You will demonstrate evidence of post-graduate study and be at least proficient on the PDRP.  You also need to be registered with the Nursing Council of NZ as a Registered Nurse, and have a Bachelor of Nursing (or relevant qualification).
