Associate Charge Nurse Manager -Rehabilitation and Surgical services
Location: Kenepuru (Porirua) Rehabilitation (ward 6) and Surgical (ward 7)
Contract: Permanent Part time 0.9 FTE (2 positions available)

About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to expand our senior nursing leadership team across the Rehabilitation and Surgical services on Level 2 at Kenepuru Hospital, caring for people aged 16 years and over.
The desired candidates would be working rostered and rotating shifts including on weekends.
The ACNM role is a management and leadership role supportive to the Charge Nurse Manager (CNM). This alignment with the CNM includes shared responsibility for team and professional development ensuring higher levels of safe and competent practice – this includes staff rostering, human resource processes, and annual performance reviews (as delegated).
This ACNM role requires an organisational understanding, alongside service and specialty knowledge. Safe quality care is an important priority. The ACNM provides leadership and day-to-day clinical coordination to ensure the provision of high quality health care within the service. This position enables an effective practice environment through providing clinical and professional nursing leadership, coaching and monitoring practice standards. The role provides practice and service knowledge with skill that includes providing direct patient care as required. Practice development and supporting change implementation is an important aspect of this management and leadership role. The salary range for this role is $116,040 – $127,674 pro rata.
About the Team/Service/ Location
Ward 6 is a 20 bed unit focused on rehabilitation for individuals over 16 year with neurological conditions such as stroke or brain injury, as well as musculoskeletal and orthopaedic rehabilitation. Our team works closely with patients and their whanau to support recovery and improve quality of life.
Ward 7 is a 21 bed surgical and rehabilitation ward offering care across a wide range of specialties including orthopaedics, gynaecology, general surgery, ophthalmology, urology, as well as vascular and rehabilitation. We provide a dynamic environment where surgical care and rehabilitation came together, ensuring patients receive comprehensive support throughout their journey. Location for these roles is Kenepuru Hospital based in Porirua - Wellington.
Both wards have established distinct models of care that emphasise patient-centred pathways and collaborative teamwork within a skilled interdisciplinary team.
We are seeking a dynamic and flexible Associate Charge Nurse Manager (ACNM) to join our dedicated team and contribute to the ongoing development of high-quality care. About you
The ideal candidate will already hold:
- Expert or Senior level on the Professional Development Recognition Programme (PDRP) with a commitment to ongoing learning and maintenance of PDRP
- Comprehensive experience in acute surgical nursing, and experience working in a rehabilitation setting.
- Holds a postgraduate qualification
- Is seen as a leader and role model and can follow through on their work
- Registration with Nursing Council of New Zealand
- Demonstrates an understanding of the significance of obligations under Te Tititi o Waitangi, including how to apply Te Tiriti principles in a meaningful way in the nursing role
- A commitment to achieving equitable outcomes for Maori
- A current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) and scope appropriate to place of work
