About the Role

We are seeking a skilled, enthusiastic, and motivated Cardiac Sonographer to join the Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley Cardiology team. This 0.9 FTE position consists of a 0.5 FTE permanent role combined with a 0.4 FTE fixed-term parental leave cover position.

In this role, you will perform a comprehensive range of echocardiography investigations, delivering high-quality, patient-centred cardiac diagnostic services within a supportive and collaborative environment. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team committed to clinical excellence, continuous improvement, and professional development, contributing to accurate diagnosis and timely patient care.

Our echocardiography department supports a diverse range of specialties, including intensive care, cardiothoracic surgery, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, arrhythmia management, heart failure, oncology, adult and paediatric congenital heart disease and structural heart disease.

Our Cardiology Ultrasound Service provides care for a population of approximately 445,000 people across the Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley region. Equipped with state-of-the-art ultrasound technology, we deliver a high-quality service across a broad spectrum of cardiac specialties and clinical settings.

About you 

• A recognised qualification in Cardiac Sonography and the ability to work independently within your scope of practice.
• Completion of a Graduate Diploma (DMU/QUT) or a postgraduate Diploma in Health Sciences (Cardiac Ultrasound) or an alternative MRTB – recognised Cardiac Sonographer qualification.
• Current registration with MRTB as a Sonographer (Cardiac scope) including a valid Annual Practising Certificate (APC)
• Excellent communication skills with a sound understanding of privacy, consent, and health legislation.
• Demonstrates initiative, professionalism and effective time management, with ability to work independently and as part of a team 
• A willingness to contribute to clinical teaching and supervision and to share knowledge through feedback and staff development activities
• Paediatric /ACHD experience preferred
