Location:  Wellington Regional Hospital and Hutt Valley

Contract:  0.9 FTE (0.5 FTE permanent and 0.4FTE fixed-term position providing 12 months of parental cover)

About the Role 

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Cardiac Sonographer to join our Cardiology service. This position is 0.9 FTE comprising a 0.5 FTE permanent role and a 0.4 FTE fixed-term position providing 12 months of parental leave cover. You will perform a comprehensive range of echocardiography investigations, delivering high-quality, patient-centred cardiac diagnostic studies in a supportive and collaborative environment.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team that values clinical excellence, professional development and continuous improvement, contributing to accurate diagnosis and timely patient care.

About you 

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Cardiac Sonographer and work independently
  • Completion of a Graduate Diploma (DMU/QUT) or a postgraduate Diploma in Health Sciences (Cardiac Ultrasound) or an alternative MRTB – recognised Cardiac Sonographer qualification.
  • Current registration with MRTB as a Sonographer (Cardiac scope) including a valid Annual Practising Certificate (APC)
  • Excellent communication skills with a sound understanding of privacy, consent, and health legislation.
  • Demonstrates initiative, professionalism and effective time management, with ability to work independently and as part of a team 
  • A willingness to contribute to clinical teaching and supervision and to share knowledge through feedback and staff development activities
  • Paediatric /ACHD experience preferred
