Casual District Nurse

Contract: Casual shifts Rostered and Rotating as required

About the Role
This Casual Distict Nurse position would suit an experienced RN, who would like to use your skills and knowledge with more autonomy, we have a position for you in our Kapiti, Kenepuru, or Wellington District Nurse teams.
District nursing (DN’s) is a multi-faceted role which is evolving quickly and we need a compassionate, dynamic RN’s to join our supportive team. You must be able to work autonomously and as part of a team, you will be required to make clinical decisions based on your own assessment skills.
The shifts are from 8am to 1630pm, afternoon shifts from 1330pm to 2200pm. District Nurses have access to regular in-service training, study days and associated post-registration academic study through local institutions. The District Nurses directly contribute to service development through regular team and Service Improvement Group (SIG) meetings.
If you have previous community nursing experience or a background in palliative care/medical/wound care or community nursing we would like to hear from you. We would also be delighted to hear from nurses from other backgrounds, as we provide a solid orientation period. Police vetting is required if not currently employed by Capital Coast. The salary range for these roles are MECA Step or $100,849 - $106,739 - pro rata.
About the Team/Service/ Location
The Community Health Service, Kapiti District Nurse team is based at the Kapiti Health Centre in Warrimoo Street Paraparaumu. The Kapiti District Nurses support the discharge of patients from the hospital health service (HSS) into the Kapiti community setting, and supports GP practice with their community patients. District Nurses work in the community setting with patients receiving home intervention such as intra venous therapy, palliative care, wound care, compression bandaging, Doppler assessment, medication management, stoma care, incontinence care and respiratory care, home oxygen therapy. The District Nurses work with Community Health, Health Care Assistants (HCA’s), assessing patients who require home personal cares, completing a plan of care and handing the patient care over to the HCA to delivery.
About you
To be successful in this role:
- Current Annual Practicing Certificate as a Registered Nurse with the NZ Nursing Council.
- Previous experience in district nursing position and experience/interest in working in the community setting.
- On the PDRP, or willing to work towards.
- Board range of experience in clinical nursing experience of at least five years.
- Able to develop and maintain relationships with other community healthcare providers.
- Ability to work collaboratively.
- Team player and have excellent decision making skills.
- A current New Zealand drivers licence is essential
