Charge Nurse Manager - Wellington Emergency Department

About the Role

This is a new role, fixed term for 12 months, that will provide operational and clinical leadership within the Emergency Department, ensuring safe, efficient, and effective delivery of care. This role bridges strategic direction from the Nurse Manager with operational execution by Associate Charge Nurse Managers (ACNMs), supporting patient flow, staff wellbeing, and compliance with quality standards.

About the Team/Service Location

The Te Pae Tiaki |Wellington Emergency Department is a dynamic and diverse teams who work closely together in a strong collegial environment.  We have a strong focus on a multidisciplinary team approach to patient care and are committed to achieving the best possible outcomes.

We are a mixed adult-paediatric department (20% children) with around 65,000 annual presentations and an admission rate of 40%. Wellington is also the regional tertiary and trauma centre and is supported in-house by most specialties. We have a 16 bed ED Observation Unit, a fully functional Minor Care Zone (Rohe Kākāriki) and a separate Paediatric zone (Rohe Tamariki).

About you

We are looking for someone that:

  • Holds a current APC
  • Has relevant experience in nursing management and leadership
  • Has relevant emergency nursing experience
  • Has excellent skills working in collaboration with multidisciplinary team
  • Has an enthusiastic team-based approach
