Location: Wellington Regional Hospital, Kenepuru Hospital and Hutt Valley Hospital

Contract: Permanent, Part-time (0.8 FTE)

About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated clinical coding professional to join our team supporting services across Wellington, Hutt Valley and Wairarapa. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful difference through high quality work that supports clinical care, patient outcomes, and operational improvement.

You'll be part of a service that works collaboratively across the district, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and reliable support for our clinical and operational teams. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, values strong relationships, and likes to contribute to service improvement.

Preference for this role will be given to applicants with practical coding experience in coding ICD 10-AM 12th Edition.

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Experience in coding in ICD 10-AM 12th Edition. 
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills 
  • A proactive and solution focused approach 
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team 
  • A commitment to quality, consistency, and service improvement

The salary band for this role is $78,228 - $91,281 (pro-rata), depending on experience. 

About the Team/Service Location

As part of a tertiary-level facility, you’ll gain exposure to a wide range of general specialties, as well as advanced services including oncology, cardiothoracic, vascular, and neurosurgery. It’s a rare opportunity to develop your skills in a diverse and specialised healthcare environment.

You will be working in a team of clinical coders processing approximately 75,000 inpatient events per year.  Our team are committed to meeting reporting deadlines whilst providing quality coding, therefore it is very important to us that applicants have a proven history of commitment to teamwork, using their initiative and can produce work with a high level of accuracy.
