Through integration and collaboration, we’re building a health system underpinned by partnership, equity, sustainability, whānau-centred care, and excellence.

About the Role

Are you a hands-on technical leader ready to make an impact in healthcare?

We are seeking a dynamic Team Leader to join our Clinical Engineering team. In this key leadership role, you will guide multi-disciplinary teams in delivering safe, efficient, and reliable medical equipment and systems that directly support frontline healthcare services.

As Team Leader, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day operational delivery of Health Technology Management (HTM) services across the equipment lifecycle — from procurement and installation to maintenance and decommissioning. You will not only manage and lead others but also remain on the tools, applying your clinical engineering knowledge in a hands-on capacity.

You'll work across departments to ensure that medical devices and systems are safe, functional, compliant, and readily available—supporting clinicians to deliver high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the onboarding, configuration, commissioning, and maintenance of medical equipment and systems.
  • Oversee compliance with NZ regulations, safety standards, and cybersecurity for devices.
  • Lead safety alert and recall management, incident investigation, and risk mitigation.
  • Drive innovation, continuous improvement, and cost-efficiency across operations.
  • Build team capacity and support workforce development and retention strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, external vendors, and national HTM partners.
  • Ensure high-quality service delivery, KPI tracking, and effective contract management.
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership, including budgeting and planning.

This is a permanent, full-time role working 80 hours per fortnight (1.0 FTE), Monday to Friday. The salary is $122,570. You will be based in Wellington but cover Hutt Valley and Kenepuru Hospitals as well.
