Clinical Ethics Lead

Location:  Wellington Regional Hospital, Hutt Hospital, Kenepuru Hospital

Service:    Centre of Clinical Excellence

Contract:  Fixed term (3 years from appointment), part time (0.1 FTE)

About the role

The Clinical Ethics Lead provides valuable SMO expertise into the Clinical Ethics Advisory Group by

• Providing end-to-end leadership of clinical ethics review processes, including triage, review allocation, risk escalation and reporting. 
• Enhancing consistency, visibility and accountability across services. 
• Enabling more coordinated, cohesive delivery of this advice across district services 

This enables a sustainable way to manage Clinical Ethics requests and meet the organisations’ needs. This role will be critical to ensuring Clinical Ethics advice and reporting activity is not only timely but drives sustained improvement in patient safety and quality outcomes.

The role reports to the Clinical Director, Centre of Clinical Excellence at CCHV. Covering the CCHV District, the Centre of Clinical Excellence is the engine room of clinical governance across the district. We are a team of people who place high value on patient safety and staff wellbeing through management of core clinical governance portfolios.

About you

• Vocationally registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
• Evidence of training at undergraduate or postgraduate level in Clinical Ethics
• Proven leadership experience
• Ability to work in collaboration with multidisciplinary team
• Able to provide consistently high standards of medical care and advice
• Open, approachable and able to work flexibly
