The role of the Clinical Leader is diverse but includes providing leadership in relation to clinical matters, ensuring the maintenance of an effective clinical governance structure, implementation of quality and patient safety improvement measures, addressing complaints and medico-legal matters, oversight of recruitment to key clinical positions, ensuring that credentialing of medical staff occurs and providing support and advice when concerns are raised regarding the working conditions, performance, conduct or health of clinicians.
About the service
The role of the Regional Forensic and Rehabilitation Inpatient Mental Health Service at Te Korowai Whāriki is to provide inpatient and outpatient care for both youth and adult clients. The regional arm includes the Central Regional Forensic Mental Health Service, Youth Forensic Service and Rehabilitation and Extended Care inpatient Service. This position is located in the regional arm of Te Korowai Whāriki which includes the Central Regional Forensic Mental Health Service. The Forensic Mental Health Service operates at the interface between Mental Health Services and the Justice System and works within the following settings – prisons, courts, community, and inpatient. The Service offers assessment and rehabilitation services to:
- Mentally disordered defendants charged with criminal offences
- Offenders who have psychiatric illness
About you
This position requires an experienced mental health senior clinician who is passionate about ensuring high quality mental health care for our communities. The successful applicant will be flexible, enthusiastic about innovation, motivated to work in partnership with other providers and organisations, and committed to ensuring equitable access to services and equitable outcomes for tāngata whaiora.
- Must have held a Senior Clinical role with leadership experience in the health sector, preferably in a Forensic and Rehabilitation inpatient service.
- Have experience of practice within a complex environment, including working simultaneously with multiple stakeholders and agencies.
- Must have a relevant tertiary level qualification in a clinical discipline (medicine, nursing, psychology, social work, occupational therapy, etc.).
- Must be a registered practicing healthcare clinician.
- Have experience of managing clinical service delivery effectively.
