About the Role 

The Acute Pain Management Service (APMS) Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) works to provide expert pain assessment and management for inpatients at Wellington Hospital. This role encompasses caring for and advising on pain management strategies for a wide variety of patients – usually for patients post-surgery and/or trauma requiring multimodal and advanced analgesic techniques. If you have a passion for working with patients and an ability to communicate well with all members of the multi-disciplinary team this will be an exciting role for you. This is a fixed term position covering Parental Leave. 

About the Team/Service Location 

The APMS is made up of nursing and anaesthetic staff. We are a small team that works well together to assist nursing, medical and MDT to improve pain assessment and management for inpatients at Wellington Hospital.

About you 

As the successful candidate for this role you will demonstrate advanced nursing competencies and be comfortable working in an autonomous role. 

  • Minimum 3 years nursing experience, ideally with surgical and/or PACU experience
  • Expert nurse (or working towards this)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good understanding of pain assessment and management
  • Current New Zealand Practicing Certificate
