Clinical Nurse Specialist – Cardiology

Salary:      NZNO MECA- Senior Nurses Scale grade 2 / RN Prescriber grade 3 - pro rata

About the Role 

An exciting opportunity to join our innovative cardiology nursing service has arisen. We are looking for a motivated Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to join our cardiac rhythm management team. The CNS will work alongside a team to provide expert care to patients and their whānau with cardiac conditions, with a specific focus on cardiac rhythm management. 

The CNS will join a team of specialist nurses and will be integral in leading and expanding cardiac rhythm management nurse-led services to improve patient and whānau care across the Capital Coast and Hutt Valley District. This role will focus on supporting people receiving implanted cardiac device therapies, help establish pathways for people with Atrial Fibrillation, and will play a key role in coordinating our regional interventional cardiology service. 

About the Team/Service/ Location 

The Cardiology team is made up of a range of health professionals who have a passion for their work. This role is primarily based at Wellington Hospital, supporting the tertiary electrophysiology service. The senior nursing cardiology team consist of experienced RN Prescribers and expert CNS’s, who champion nurse-led innovation and advanced nursing practice. There are opportunities to be supported into the role by the experienced, enthusiastic and committed team.

You will be:

  • An experienced cardiac nurse or RN Prescriber 
  • Working towards or have completed postgraduate nursing education qualification
  • Demonstrate advanced assessment and inter-personal skills 
  • Passionate about improving outcomes for people and their whānau 
  • Ready to develop and work in nurse-led services
