Clinical Nurse Specialist – Orthopaedics (Adult Population)

About the Role
An exciting opportunity for a senior nursing role within the Wellington Orthopaedic Service. This role will provide specialist nursing care, advice and expertise, delivering direct patient care, nurse-led clinics, along with supporting other staff caring for patients with complex musculoskeletal conditions and surgery. This role works across the orthopaedic service, in outpatient and inpatient settings, and with a particular focus on patients with hip and knee joint conditions.
The CNS practices at an advanced level within the RN scope of practice, supporting excellence in practice through modelling expert clinical skills, promoting best practice, facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration and providing education. The CNS has an active role in the development and achievement of the strategic direction for the Orthopaedic service.
About the Team/Service/Location
The Orthopaedic service provides for the management of major injuries and fractures at Wellington Hospital and treatment of injuries, congenital, infective, degenerative and malignant disorders of the musculoskeletal system at Wellington and Kenepuru Hospitals. A regional tertiary service is provided for patients with complex major trauma, revision joint replacement, spinal disorders, scoliosis, paediatric and hand surgery.
About you
- Current NCNZ Registered Nurse Annual Practicing Certificate
- Expert level practice and experience in orthopaedic nursing
- Clinical Postgraduate (PG) Diploma with postgraduate clinical courses Current NCNZ Registered Nurse Annual Practicing Certificate
- At Expert or Senior level in Professional Development Recognition Programme (PDRP)
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, facilitation and coaching skills
- Demonstrates initiative, motivation and a commitment to learning.
