Clinical Psychologist for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS)
Location: Level 3, BNZ Tower, Porirua
Contract: Permanent, Full time (1 FTE)

About the Role
A Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) Psychologist spends their day supporting young people experiencing emotional, behavioural, developmental, and/or mental health difficulties. Their work allows them to meet with children, teenagers, and their families in ways that works for them and create therapy sessions that help young people and their families to manage their mental health challenges. Family work, groups and/or play-based interventions may also become part of your therapeutic tool kit. You will also get to collaborate with the MDT and schools/NGOs to coordinate care plans tailored to each young person’s needs.
Although the work can be emotionally demanding, CAMHS psychologists find it deeply rewarding to help young people and their families build resilience, improve coping skills, and achieve better mental health outcomes during critical stages of development.
About the Team/Service/ Location
CAMHS team will give you the opportunity to provide specialist assessment and therapeutic support for tamariki and rangatahi experiencing moderate to severe mental health difficulties, working closely with whānau, schools, and community services to deliver holistic and culturally responsive care. CAMHS Teams are grounded in values of partnership, equity, whānau-centred care, and excellence, with a strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally responsive practice.

About you
- A postgrad qualification in Clinical Psychology or Child and Family Psychology.
- Registration (or eligibility for registration) with the NZ Psychologists Board and a current Annual Practising Certificate.
- Experience working with children, adolescents and families desirable but not essential.
- A full drivers licence.
- Ability to organise your time, know child development and how cultural world views can affect mental health perspective and interventions.
