Location: Mental Health Service Older Persons, Te Whare Ra Uta, Kenepuru Community Hospital
Contract: Permanent Part Time ( 0.4 FTE), 16 hours per week

About the Role
Do you have experience of working with older adults or perhaps an interest in developing your clinical practice in a specialty area? We are advertising for a part-time Clinical Psychology position with Mental Health Service Older Persons (MHSOP). This is a unique role working across the continuum of care alongside an existing Clinical Psychology colleague. As a service we work closely with general health and health of older persons services to co-manage the health needs of tangata whaiora referred to our service.
You will be responsible for specialist assessment, formulation and intervention with individual tangata whaiora referred to the service, as well as providing guidance to colleagues on psychosocial aspects of their care (e.g. risk assessment & management, behavioural support, supervision of individual therapies). You will be available for consultation and opportunity to facilitate therapeutic group programmes in this clinical setting. We would welcome your active contribution to service development and continuous quality improvement initiatives within this specialty.
About the Team/Service Location
MHSOP is predominantly a community based service with a 16 bed specialist inpatient unit located on the Kenepuru campus. Our service sits under the Mental Health, Addictions and Intellectual Disabilities Service and works closely with other local and regional services.
The purpose of the service is to provide comprehensive assessment, treatment and ongoing case management, working in partnership with individual tangata whaiora, whānau, formal and informal care givers and community agencies. MHSOP provides assessment, treatment and rehabilitation services for individuals presenting with mental health needs in later life.
About you
In addition to experience or interest in working with older adults, the ideal candidate will also have:
• Registration in the Clinical Scope of Psychology.
• Proven experience in working with highly complex client presentations.
• Experience/training in multiple therapeutic & assessment approaches particularly neuropsychological.
• Experience of stepped care/management of referrals for psychological therapies.
• Experience of providing clinical supervision to others.
• Experience of undertaking quality improvement initiatives relevant to clinical psychology.
