Community Health Administrator


Location: Wellington Regional Hospital, Kenepuru Community Health and Kapiti Health Centre

Contract: Permanent, part-time (0.37 FTE)

About the Role 

We are currently looking for three part-time administrators to work weekends at one of our three sites. These roles work to support the District Nurses that go out into the community to assist patients. Some of your duties will include:

  • Reception duties greeting and assisting patients attending clinics or making phone enquiries
  • Liaising with patients and District Nurse via text messaging if urgent
  • Recording all patient encounters in the patient management system
  • Managing District Nurse cars in the Fleetwise system

While you will be situated at either Wellington Hospital, Kenepuru Hospital or Kapiti Health Centre, you may be required to work across the other sites on occasion. These are part-time roles working 8 hours on Saturday, and 6 hours on Sunday. The salary range is $72,035 - $79,573 pro-rated.

About the Team/Service Location 

The Patient Administration Service (PAS) works across the District to support a patient's journey from referral through to discharge. PAS is comprised of several difference services who each have a dedicated Team Leader:

  • Outpatient Booking Centre, Call Centre and Atrium
  • Clinical Typing & Team Support
  • Ward Administration & Elective booking
  • Outpatient Reception and Administration Support
  • Emergency Department and Radiology

These roles are part of the Outpatient Reception and Administration Support team, supporting our Community Health areas. We support the District Nurses in Community Health who work with patients in the community, visiting patients in their homes if they are unable to come into the clinic. We facilitate a supportive and collaborative workplace culture, with a commitment to your ongoing professional development. You will be working closely with both clinical and non-clinical staff to ensure the service needs are met.

About you 

Skills and experience we are looking for:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • At least 1 years Administration experience in a front-line Administration role
  • Ability to maintain patient and office confidentiality in line with the Privacy Act
  • Works well under pressure and can multitask in a fast-paced environment
