Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist (Wellington)

Location:  Wellington Regional Hospital, Kenepuru Hospital

Service:    Women’s Health Service 

Contract:  Permanent, full time/part time (up to 0.8 FTE) - including on-call component

Salary:      As per ASMS SECA

About the role

As the Obstetrician and Gynaecologist you will be required to provide high‑quality clinical services and oversee the care and management of both acute and non‑acute patients within a multidisciplinary team environment. The role includes participation in the on‑call roster.

 This will be conducted in accordance with the policies and guidelines of Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley. 

You will support and provide leadership to junior medical staff and work collaboratively with the wider team to deliver comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow‑up care for women referred to the service

About the service

The Women’s Health service provides quality and safe care as experienced by women, babies and their whānau of the Wellington Region.  We have a dedicated successful and enthusiastic team of 22 full and part-time Obstetricians and Gynaecologists who enable a collaborative multidisciplinary team approach to service provision, including voice of consumers at all level of service planning. 

Wellington Hospital is also a teaching hospital with medical students from the University of Otago rotating through the Women’s Health service. We supervise, and are accredited for Obstetrics and Gynaecology training through the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

About you

• Vocationally registered in Obstetric & Gynaecology with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) 
• FRANZCOG or equivalent to be able to register for vocational registration with the MCNZ
• Must participate on the on-call roster
• Work in collaboration with multidisciplinary team
• Able to provide consistently high standards of medical care
• Our preference would be a minimum of 2 years’ experience
• Experience or an interest in vaginal surgery and pelvic floor medicine is desirable but not essential
• Relevant experience and training
