Consultant Orthopaedics Surgeon

About the role

We have opportunity for an orthopaedic surgeon to join our team of Wellington orthopaedic specialists in a permanent full time role.  We are looking for a surgeon with flexibility to work at different sites across Wellington, Kenepuru and the Wairarapa District.

The role will have a weekly presence in the Wairarapa with theatre and clinic lists and will provide leadership and liaison for the orthopaedic staff there. They will assist with the supervision and instruction of junior medical staff within the orthopaedic service.

About the service

The orthopaedic service provides for the management of major injuries and fractures and treatment of injuries, congenital, infective, degenerative and malignant disorders of the musculoskeletal system.

We provide a regional tertiary service for patients with complex major trauma, revision joint replacement, spinal disorder, scoliosis, paediatric and hand surgery. We also provide orthopaedic care within the Wairarapa District with a regular rotation of surgeons providing services in Masterton.

About you

You will pride yourself on providing a high standard of clinical practice and expertise to the patients under your care.  The successful candidate will be a team player and clear communicator, adaptable and willing to work with a multi-disciplinary health team across all 3 of our sites: Wellington, Kenepuru and Wairarapa.

  • Vocationally registered in Orthopaedic Surgery with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
  • FRACS or equivalent qualification or to be able to register for vocational registration with the MCNZ
  • Work in collaboration with multidisciplinary team
  • Able to provide consistently high standards of medical care
  • Relevant experience and training
