About the role

An exciting opportunity exists for a Consultant Renal Physician to join our team that provides a full service for the management of acute and chronic renal disease to most of the central region of New Zealand (Capital, Coast & Hutt Valley District and Wairarapa District), as well as home dialysis services to Nelson/Marlborough District.

Our Renal Service includes outpatient consultations, inpatient services, renal transplant services and a thorough pre-dialysis service.

The service maintains a strong focus and commitment to home based dialysis, both peritoneal and haemodialysis. Satellite centres are located at Kenepuru and Hutt Valley.

The In-centre dialysis unit at Wellington Regional Hospital services the increasing demand for assisted haemodialysis.  Outpatient clinics are provided at Wellington, Hutt, Kenepuru and Kāpiti hospitals.

Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley district is located centrally in Wellington and has over 6,000 full-time equivalent staff, making us one of the major employers in the Wellington region. We operate three hospitals – Wellington Regional Hospital in Newtown, Hutt Valley Hospital and Kenepuru Hospital in Porirua – as well as the Kāpiti Health Centre at Paraparaumu.

About you

  • Vocationally registered in Internal Medicine (Renal) with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
  • FRACP or equivalent qualification and be able to register for vocational registration with the MCNZ
  • Work in collaboration with multidisciplinary team
  • Able to provide consistently high standards of medical care
  • Relevant experience and training
