Dental Practice Manager
Location: Wellington and Kenepuru Hospitals
Contract: Permanent

About the Role
This position is responsible for the overall operational leadership and administrative management of the Dental Service, and has line management responsibility for the dental assistants, technicians and administrative staff. The Practice Manager is responsible for staff rostering, clinic scheduling, leave management and performance management of staff across both departments.
The Practice Manager will provide day to day management of staff, ensuring the consistent application of policies, protocols, systems and processes across the Dental Service, providing administrative functions related to recruitment and other human resources processes, and maintaining a service-wide overview of resource levels and allocation. The salary for this position is: $104,178 to $130,223
About the Team/Service/ Location
The Oral Health Service is staffed by a team of clinical and non-clinical staff, tasked with providing expert care to our specialised patient group. Our team consists of senior dentists, house surgeons (who provide out of hours on call support), clinical and dental technicians, receptionists, dental assistants, a booking clerk and registered nurse. The service is also supported by an oral medicine specialist & oral surgery specialist.
The Dental and Oral Health Service provides outpatient general dentistry, oral surgery and oral medicine via dedicated dental clinics and operating theatres at Wellington and Kenepuru Hospitals. Alongside the daily clinics, there are four theatre lists per week at Kenepuru and eight per month at Wellington. Additional sessions are undertaken when theatre space and a provider are available.
About you
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Experience in operations/management within a public hospital setting (hospital dental experience is desirable, though not essential). Previous supervisory experience is required.
- A proven ability to create effective working relationships and manage high performing teams
- Experience in budget management and in human resource management
- A high standard of written and oral communication
- Must have a knowledge and empathy for bi-culturalism and act in a manner which the patient determines is culturally safe
