Kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role

This role consists of 0.5FTE renal dietetics and 0.4FTE inpatient dietetics.

The 0.5FTE in renal dietetics is based in the Allied Health Outpatient Team and works alongside two experienced renal dietitians as well as an established Renal MDT. This role is across the inpatient and outpatient settings seeing people across the continuum of kidney disease, from CKD to dialysis (haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis) and renal transplant. Whilst based at Wellington Regional Hospital the post-holder will also be required to work in partnership with the other renal dietitians to provide a service to renal patients at our satellite dialysis units (Kenepuru and Hutt Valley).

The 0.4FTE in inpatients dietetics is a cover role based in the Inpatient Dietitian Team at Wellington Regional Hospital. The caseload will flex depending on the needs of the service and could include medical, surgical and ICU cover including enteral feeding and TPN management. Following successful achievement of relevant competencies, this role also participates in our weekend oncall roster.

Across both roles there is the potential to participate in and lead service improvement, resource development and other innovative practice. This is an exciting opportunity to develop and gain experience across renal and inpatient dietetics in a supportive team environment.

Although this role is 0.9FTE, applications from people seeking less than 0.9FTE are welcome to apply – please state your desired hours in your cover letter.

Mō tō mātou rōpū – About our team

This role sits across two teams.

We are a diverse and inclusive team who provide a service to patients and their whānau across predominantly outpatient but also inpatient and community settings.

0.4FTE sits in the Inpatient Dietetics Team at Wellington Regional Hospital. We are a team of approximately 16 dietitians who work across inpatient and outpatient settings.

Both teams are highly dedicated and patient-focused teams of clinicians. We value the contributions and skills of all of our members. We strive to live our organisational values of Manaakitanga, Kotahitanga and Rangatiratanga. We have a strong reputation for excellent practice. As a member of our teams you will be supported with regular professional development opportunities to assist you in meeting your continuing competency requirements, as well as regular clinical supervision.

Moū – About you

Working with a diverse group of patients with significant health needs, you’ll demonstrate excellent clinical and communication skills and have a flexible, problem solving approach. You will have the ability to quickly build strong working relationships with patients, whānau and wider multidisciplinary teams and have excellent time management and prioritisation skills. We strongly encourage applicants from all backgrounds with the right skills and experience who share our values to apply. We would greatly value seeing more applicants from our Māori and Pacific communities.
