About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Professional to join the Mental Health Addictions & Intellectual Service (MHAIDS) Operations Centre as an MHAIDS Duty Manager.  The Duty Manager is part of a team of highly skilled and experienced mental health professionals who provide direction and support to the wider acute MHAIDs services across Wellington, Hutt Valley and the Wairarapa regions. 

The MHAIDS Duty Manager works closely with mental health teams to coordinate a person’s access to acute mental health inpatient units and crisis respite facilities in the community and to allocate resources where needed.  You will have a key role in working with the general hospital and manage acute flow, demand and capacity and work in partnership with the wider community including NZ Police and non-government agencies.  The role also has some responsibility working alongside our senior managers, and your leadership skills will be vital in ensuring people are looked after and that staff are supported

About you

For this role you will be a highly experienced registered mental health professional with an ability to lead clinical and resource decision making.  The ideal candidate will have 7 years plus experience working in mental health and hold a recognized qualification in either nursing or specific allied health. 

Requirements

•  Recognized NZ qualification as above

•  Registration with relevant professional board and a current annual practicing certificate (APC)

•  Post Graduate certificate in Mental Health

•  Demonstrated competence in communicating with a wide range of people, leading meetings and documenting outcomes and plans

•  Full NZ Drivers License

•  Able to consent to a full Police Vetting Check under the Vulnerable Children’s Act 2014

•  Must be eligible to work in New Zealand
