Educator For Mental Health Addiction and Intellectual Disability
Location: Porirua
Contract: Permanent Part Time (0.6FTE)

About the Role
We are looking for a skilled individual to join our learning and development team to lead the education and professional development of our MHAIDS workforce. As part of the Learning and Development team the Educator will primarily be responsible for programmes and other professional activities that develop and maintain competence and capability of our MHAIDS workforces in line with our multidisciplinary approach to health care delivery.
Duties
- Design, deliver and support a range of education programmes.
- Contribute the competence and capability of our workforce.
- Co-facilitate generic workforce programmes alongside other members of the learning and development team.
- Work alongside the senior professional leaders to support the growth and development of the clinical and other workforce/s within MHAIDS.
About the Team/Service Location
MHAIDS is committed to continuous learning and development for all our staff. The Learning and Development team organises, coordinates, develops and delivers a wide range of programmes and learning activities to support workforce capability and to meet sector goals and requirements across the greater Wellington, Hutt and Wairarapa region. The team is based at Ngā Wāhi Ākonga, Porirua hospital but work across the district to support the training requirements of MHAIDS staff.
About you
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Mental Health clinician who has a passion for supporting the learning of others. You will have experience in delivering developing and delivering training to others and will ideally have an adult education qualification. You will be able to bring enthusiasm, innovation and passion to the role whilst being able to prioritise and balance workforce demands.
Skills & Experience
- Knowledge and understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi and implications in practice.
- Knowledge of quality improvement processes and principles.
- Ability to facilitate and manage change at a local level.
- Specialty knowledge and practice expertise in Mental health, addiction and intellectual disabilities.
- Strengths and recovery principles focus to your practice.
- Knowledge of nursing professional development issues.
- Minimum practice at senior or advanced level or equivalent – 5 years.
- Adult Education qualification desirable.
- Full drivers licence.
The majority of the work will take place Monday to Friday during normal work hours however there may to necessary for the Educator to work outside these hours from time to time to ensure the educational requirements of the staff undertaking shift work are met.
