Enrolled Nurse Regional Rehabilitation Inpatient Unit- Tāne Mahuta


Location:  Ratonga Rua O Porirua Campus, Porirua

Contract:  Permanent, Part Time (0.93 FTE) Rostered & Rotation – 4 days on, 2 days off 

Salary:     $69,039 - $75,515

About the role

The Enrolled Nurse (EN) role working at Tane Mahuta, Regional Rehabilitation Services, Central Regional Forensic & Rehabilitation Psychiatric Inpatient Units, Te Korowai-Whāriki is required to have mental health nursing experience. The EN practices within a multi-disciplinary team; fosters a person centred approach, inclusive of whanau participation, that supports individually identified goals within the rehabilitation framework. The EN is part of a Team approach that commits to enhanced communication, increased patient satisfaction and patient care; research and utilisation of current best practice principles; supporting change implementation and ongoing enhancement for service quality improvement and patient safety. The EN is a key part of the team’s involvement in change. The EN working hours will be rostered and rotating and may work across the DHB as required due to patient safety and workforce necessities.

About the Team/Service/ Location 

Tane Mahuta is an open rehabilitation mental health unit for up to 34 people within Te Korowai Whāriki’s Rehabilitation Service. This is a regional innovative supportive service working with tangata whai ora in supporting their journey with a multi-disciplinary team approach. We advocate for best practice, sharing of ideas, and the continuum of change management processes to align with our vision.

About you

You will need to be able to work collaboratively within a team; be able to support Mental Health Support Workers (MHSW) under your direction and delegation; carry out and assist MHSW’s to undertake care activities. You will bring your active listening skills, solution focus approach to fostering tangata whai ora to achieve their identified goals within their pathway journey. You will have the ability to take on new learning where required to support your role within the team as well as have good communication skills with your team members, tangata whai ora and their whānau. You will be proactive in ensuring all documentation reflects a person centered approach and promotes the enhancement of independence. You must also hold:

-Current NZ EN APC 

-Meet police vetting requirements

-A full NZ Driver License

-Experience working in Mental Health settings
