About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and highly skilled pharmacist to join our team as an Expert Pharmacist – Transplant & Cellular Therapy (TCT). This is a new senior position and is a permanent, full-time role, 40 hours per week.
Wellington Regional Hospital provides specialist services to patients with cancer and haematological conditions across the sub-region (Wellington, Hutt Valley, and Wairarapa). This role provides expert-level clinical pharmacy leadership within the TCT service across inpatient and outpatient settings, supporting complex patient care and optimising treatment outcomes.
This position plays a key leadership role in developing and implementing TCT-specific pathways, protocols, and guidelines, ensuring alignment with national and international best practice and evidence-based standards. The role also contributes to service development, quality improvement, and clinical innovation across the TCT service continuum.
About the Team/Service/ Location
The pharmacy team is well respected by clinicians, nursing staff, and senior management across the organisation, and is constantly looking at ways to improve the service and care it delivers. We provide a comprehensive pharmacy service throughout to the Capital Coast and Hutt Valley District, which includes a clinical service, dispensary & logistics service, and a quality & risk service. There is also an aseptic production service at Capital & Coast Hospitals (Wellington & Kenepuru). Through these services, we aim to improve the quality and effectiveness of prescribing, supply and distribution of medicines throughout the Capital Coast and Hutt Valley District. Our teams value professional growth, and emphasizes clinical development and medicines optimization for our patients.
About you
We are seeking an expert-level pharmacist with significant clinical experience in the general haematology setting, as well as Transplant and Cellular Therapies. You will be confident managing highly complex clinical presentations and providing advanced clinical decision-making within a multidisciplinary team.
You will have strong clinical leadership capability, with experience contributing to service development, education, and quality improvement initiatives. You will be self-motivated, innovative, and able to work autonomously while also influencing and supporting others across the service.
You must be registered as a pharmacist in New Zealand with a current Annual Practicing Certificate, or eligible to register.
