General Manager - Mental Health, Addiction and Intellectual Disability Service

Location: Capital, Coast & Hutt Valley District (base location Porirua)
Contract: 6 months fixed-term, full-time
Salary: $260,000 (pro-rated)

About the Role
The Mental Health, Addiction and Intellectual Disability Service (MHAIDS) provides specialist services to people across Capital, Coast & Hutt Valley District and the Wairarapa District.
The General Manager will work in partnership with the MHAIDS Executive Clinical Director to deliver safe and effective specialist mental health, addiction and intellectual disability services across two districts that are person-centred, culturally responsive and supported by contemporary, multi-disciplinary models of care.
We are looking for an experienced senior leader who can fill this role for an initial six-month period.

MHAIDS is led by an Executive Clinical Director and an Executive Director through a clinical-management partnership model. These roles report jointly to the Group Director Operations Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley.

About you
The successful candidate will be a champion of change, growth and development. You will be responsible for encouraging, fostering and supporting a multi-disciplinary and collaborative approach to the management and development of health services across our Districts, as well as the regional and national health systems in an environment that demonstrates Manaakitanga – respect, caring and kindness.
This role presents a unique opportunity to lead MHAIDS during a significant time of change. Our service, people and communities need a senior leader with significant relationship and stakeholder management skills who is able to create strong and effective working relationships across both internal and external key stakeholders.
The successful candidate will have a track-record of success in leading the on-going development and implementation of mental health, addiction and intellectual disability practices and policies so that services are provided in line with recognised contemporary standards.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience
- Relevant post graduate qualification in health, business or related field (a health professional qualification is preferred)
- Extensive involvement in overseeing the delivery of mental health, addiction and/or intellectual disability services
- Significant senior management experience with a track record of strategic leadership in a large and complex organisation including the development of business/service plans
- Extensive experience in the commissioning of mental health, addiction and/or intellectual disability services
- Knowledge and experience of applying equity considerations in service design and delivery
- Experience of leading through significant change and introducing innovation and service development initiatives
