Group Manager - Hospital Operations

About the Role 

This leadership role reports to the Group Director Operations and works in partnership with other Group Managers and multidisciplinary partners to enable the delivery of high-quality integrated care to patients. With clinical partners, the Group Manager is expected to lead collaborative, transformational change that will operationalise national and regional priorities and embed district wide delivery of innovative business models and processes.

This is a highly collaborative role that will need to actively build and maintain relationships with the other Group Managers and their teams. You will work closely with other members of leadership to lead and support hospital and specialist services in meeting their objectives - ensuring strategic priorities are well integrated into Hospital & Specialist Services work.

This role is integral to the district achieving its performance expectation with a focus on ‘flow’ and our 90 day plans to achieve the SSiED Health target.

There are a total of six Group Managers responsible for the service leadership of hospital and community based services within our district. Our leadership team works closely with other districts in the region to ensure national requirements for operational delivery are applied consistently.

About you 

The successful candidate will be a champion of change, growth and development. You will be responsible for encouraging, fostering and supporting a multi-disciplinary and collaborative approach to the management and development of health services across our Districts and the regional and national health systems in an environment that demonstrates Manaakitanga – respect, caring and kindness. It is important you bring:

  • Tertiary qualification in health and/or significant project management experience. 
  • Experience leading large scale change in complex environments, preferable in the health sector. 
  • An intellectual and practical understanding of the importance of, and commitment to, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and experience in applying its principles.
  • Previous experience at a senior management level of not less than 2 years
