Health Care Assistant - Kapiti Community Health


Location: Kapiti Health Centre, 35 Warrimoo Street Paraparaumu

Contract: Permanent, Rostered and Rotating

About the Role

Join our dedicated Community Health Service team in Kāpiti, where Health Care Assistants (HCAs) play a vital role in supporting patients in their homes. Our service focuses on assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and ongoing support for individuals and families. 

Option 1: Full-Time Positions

2 x Full-Time HCA roles, each at 1.0 FTE (80 hours per fortnight)

Option 2: Part-Time Positions

2 x 0.8 FTE HCA roles Each at 64 hours per fortnight

1 x 0.6 FTE HCA role 48 hours per fortnight

As an HCA, you’ll assist patients with daily living activities such as personal care and household tasks. These patients may be recovering from surgery, illness, or require rehabilitation support. You’ll work closely with our District Nurses to ensure high-quality, person-centred care. We offer a comprehensive orientation programme and ongoing professional development to support your growth in the role. Police vetting is required for applicants not currently employed by Capital Coast.

Shifts: Morning: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Evening: 1:30 PM – 10:00 PM Days: Monday to Sunday

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care and home help in a community setting
  • Support patients transitioning from hospital to home
  • Assist with hygiene, mobility, nutrition, elimination, rehabilitation, and medication prompting
  • Work under the delegation and direction of a Registered Nurse

    Our Kāpiti-based HCA team is part of a collaborative and supportive environment located at Kapiti Health Centre 35 Warrimoo Street Paraparaumu. You’ll be part of a service that values compassion, teamwork, and excellence in community care. The salary range for this role is MECA Step 3 to 5   $67,330 to $70,358 pro rata to hours worked.

    About you

    To be successful in this role, you are required to have:

  • Completed level three NZQA qualifications in Community Support Services (or its equivalent).
  • Good keyboard skills
  • Good communication skills
  • A current driver licence is essential
  • Working at Health New Zealand
