Health Care Assistant - Kāpiti Health Centre


Location: Kāpiti Health Centre, 35 Warrimoo Street, Paraparaumu.

Contract: Permanent, part-time, 0.6 FTE rostered and rotating

Join our dedicated Community Health Service team in Kāpiti, where Health Care Assistants (HCAs) play a vital role in supporting patients in their homes. Our service focuses on assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and ongoing support for individuals and families. 

About the role

As an HCA, you’ll assist patients with daily living activities such as personal care and household tasks. These patients may be recovering from surgery, illness, or require rehabilitation support. You’ll work closely with our District Nurses to ensure high-quality, person-centred care.

We offer a comprehensive orientation programme and ongoing professional development to support your growth in the role.

Note: Police vetting is required for applicants not currently employed by Capital Coast.

This HCA position is part time (0.6 FTE), three days a week.

Shifts: Morning: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Evening: 1:30 PM – 10:00 PM Days: Monday to Sunday.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care and home help in a community setting
  • Support patients transitioning from hospital to home
  • Assist with hygiene, mobility, nutrition, elimination, rehabilitation, and medication prompting
  • Work under the delegation and direction of a Registered Nurse

About you

To be successful in this role, you are required to have:

  • Completed level three NZQA qualifications in Community Support Services (or its equivalent).
  • Good keyboard skills
  • Good communication skills
  • A current driver licence is essential
