Health Care Assistant -Ophthalmology
Location: Wellington Regional Hospital
Contract: Fixed term - 1 FTE ( January 2026 - January 2027).

About the Role
Health Care Assistant (HCA) in Ophthalmology Department, the role is managing independently Visual Field Clinics. Perform cleaning and infection control duties in line with clinical standards. Maintain and restock supplies. HCA is a vital role in this very busy clinic.
About the Team/Service Location
The Ophthalmology team is a large team consisting of admin, nurses, allied health & doctors. We provide ourselves on working as a cohesive team, to ensure we are providing best care to our patients. This ward is based at Wellington Regional Hospital - Newtown.
About you
- Health Assistance Level 3 or equivalent or prepared to complete within specified timeframes
- The ability to act calmly and quickly in emergencies
- Previous experience in a health care setting desirable
- The ability to deal with sickness and distressing medical situations
- Works well with people
