About the Role 

The maternity unit has a vacancy for a committed and enthusiastic support worker to ensure that a high level of maternity care is maintained at all times. The Healthcare Assistant supports the midwifery team to deliver services for women and whanau by ensuring the birthing rooms are prepared, equipment is available, food is delivered and woman are welcomed into our unit. The salary for this role is MECA HCA Step 1-3 pro rata.

About the Team/Service Location 

Wellington Hospital Birthing Suite is purpose-built, busy unit catering for the needs of women and their whanau. There are 12 self-contained, fully equipped labour and birthing rooms. Health care assistants are important members of our multidisciplinary team in providing a safe, clean and caring environment to all who use our services. 

About you 

The ideal health care assistant for our unit is someone who is diligent, reliable, hard-working and who has a sense of humour. The successful applicant will be able to work rostered and rotating 8 hour shifts.

Essential Qualifications / Accreditations / skills and experience:

  • Health and Wellbeing: Health Assistance Level 3 or equivalent or prepared to complete within specified timeframes
  • Previous hospitality experience desirable
  • Recent experience in a health care setting desirable
