Health Care Assistant- Wellington Blood and Cancer Centre

Contract: Permanent, Full time 1.0 FTE

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team at the Wellington Blood and Cancer Centre as a Health Care Assistant.  This role is a busy and diverse role that includes a variety of clinical and administrative tasks.  You would be required to assist in the day to day running of outpatient clinics and supporting the team within the WBCC service.

Some of the responsibilities of the role include:

•  Setting up and running of clinics

•  Assisting patients around the department

•  Refilling and ordering of stock

•  Coordination and cleaning of equipment

•  Supporting the wider team with clinical procedures.

•  Procedural support

About the Team/Service Location

The Wellington Blood & Cancer Centre (WB&CC) incorporates the specialties of Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology and Clinical Haematology into an integrated regional and supra-regional cancer service for both inpatients and outpatients.  Services provided in the WBCC include specialist consultation and treatment for referred Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology and Haematology patients either in Wellington or outreach clinics.

The WBCC team is a hardworking, friendly and supportive team who are passionate about providing a high level of care to patients accessing oncology, haematology and radiation services.

About you

  • Health and Wellbeing: Health Assistance Level 3 or equivalent or prepared to complete within specified timeframes
  • Previous experience in a health care setting desirable
  • A competent level of computer knowledge
  • A friendly, caring and empathetic manner
  • The ability to follow instructions
  • Good communication skills
