Healthcare Assistant - ORA Inpatient Service

About the Role
We have an opportunity for a casual Health Care Assistant to join our team. Working in kenepuru you will have an opportunity to work on the Health of the older person wards 4 and 5. You will be responsible for caring for a wide range of patients requiring specialist rehabilitation services. The Health Care Assistant (HCA) is part of the unregulated health workforce and therefore must always work under direction and/or delegation of a Registered Nurse (RN). The HCA role is task-specific and has defined boundaries.
The HCA is part of a collaborative health care team; they assist the RN to meet the patient/client needs when it is appropriate for the RN to delegate aspects of care to a trained unregulated healthcare role. The HCA contributes to the successful operation of the nursing team.
About the Team/Service/ Location
Ward 4 and 5 is part of the Older Adult, Rehabilitation and Allied Health Service (ORA) operates from Kenepuru Hospital (Porirua). The ward provides inpatient goal directed inter disciplinary assessment and treatment of the older person and rehabilitation services.

- Passionate about Gerontology and vulnerable patient groups
- Strong communication skills
- Resilient
- Health care assistants level 3 NZQA National Certificate health and wellbeing or equivalent
