Location:  Wellington Regional Hospital and Kenepuru Community Hospital

Contract:  Permanent, Part Time 0.8 FTE Rostered and Rotating

About the role

Working for the IOC (Integrated Operations Centre) involves supporting all areas of the hospital and responding to areas of greater need. This may involve working on the wards, offering variance response at the delegation of the DNM’s (Duty Nurse Managers) or providing discharge facilitation, supporting patients at the end of their hospital stay moving down to the transit lounge.

If you are allocated to the wards, your day begins with a handover from the outgoing team where you will receive direction and delegation from the registered nurses. You will give a warm welcome to patients, making them feel comfortable and supported. You'll assist with personal cares, bathing, dressing, and mobility, fluid & nutrition, ensuring their safety and well-being throughout the shift. You'll work closely with the nursing team, monitoring patient conditions, and giving feedback to the primary nurse, this will include the use of formal documentation that requires to be completed. You'll provide emotional support to patients and families, creating a compassionate and positive environment

About you

  • Level 3 Health and Wellbeing qualification or equivalent is essential
  • Hold a current work visa or have the legal right to work in New Zealand 
  • 12 months experience as an HCA
