Intake and Assessment Clinician For Kapiti Community Mental Health Team

Location: Kapiti Health Centre

Contract:  Permanent, Part Time (0.5 FTE)

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is dedicated to serving all New Zealanders. Through integration and collaboration, we’re building a health system underpinned by partnership, equity, sustainability, whānau-centred care, and excellence.

About the Role

The Intake and Assessment clinician receives all referrals into the service and triages them. They decide whether they need to have further assessment within the team and do Intake assessments via phone which can then lead onto an in person Initial assessment. If the client is not accepted into the service, they will give advice to the GP or referrer. They will also feed back to the client and advise them of options in the community.

The Intake and Assessment clinician is the first point of contact for the team. They also deal with any “walk-ins” from the public.

They work alongside the MDT within the team, meeting on a regular basis to discuss cases.

This is a 0.5 role shared with another clinician. You would be working full days on Monday and Friday and 4 hours on Tuesday. This ensures that each day is covered and there is a cross-over of clinicians on the Tuesday.
