Local Service Coordinator for Kapiti Community Mental Health Team
Location: Kapiti Health Centre
Contract: Permanent, Full time (1 FTE)

About the Role
As the Local Service Coordinator you will work alongside the Local Service Lead in ensuring the efficient running of the community team. You will help ensure that the tāngata whaiora referred to our service are allocated to the appropriate function at the right time based on their need. You will help monitor staffing levels and escalate any shortages as appropriate. You will clinically prioritise referrals and allocate referrals to appropriate clinicians. You will work with the Intake clinicians to help monitor wait times and delays for Initial assessments and respond to issues effectively. You will also help out with clinical work when needed and interface with other services. You will be involved in audits and quality programmes. Your work will be varied and ensure the smooth running of the team.
About the Team/Service/ Location
We are an adult community mental health team covering the Kapiti district, from Paekakariki to Peka Peka. We are an experienced team and made up of Psychiatrists, Psychologist, Mental health nurses, Social Worker and an Admin team. We welcome students and NESPs to our team.
We see the population with moderate – severe mental illness and work closely with many different services. Our Psychologist and other clinicians runs Psychology workshops on base for our service users who would benefit from this.
We work closely with NGO’s in the area and have a Respite house close by for our clients to use when appropriate.
We are based alongside the Kapiti Health Centre, close to public transport and have free parking. With Transmission Gully close by, we are only a short drive from Porirua and Wellington.
About You
You will be a senior mental health professional – Nurse, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist with relevant qualifications and registration.
- You will have at least 3 years post registration experience.
- You will be able to role model excellent care and practice.
- You will be able to provide clinical cover in cases of staff shortage.
- You will be willing to work alongside the clinicians to provide the best care for our clients and able to manage acute situations.
- You will be a Team player with a good sense of humour and ability to work alongside all disciplines.
