Medical Physicist

Location: Wellington Regional Hospital, Wellington Blood & Cancer Centre, with work across the regional Radiation Oncology service.

Contract: Permanent, Full Time

About the Role

The radiation oncology service operates as part of an integrated blood and cancer centre that also includes medical oncology and clinical haematology services. We offer a full range of contemporary external beam radiation treatments as well as image guided HDR brachytherapy for gynaecological, prostate and skin cancers. The service uses an integrated suite of Varian systems including three TrueBeam linacs, Bravos HDR brachytherapy and ARIA/Eclipse software as well as a Siemens CT scanner and Xstrahl superficial x-ray system. The medical physicist provides scientific support for the safe and effective delivery of radiation treatment and reports to the Chief Physicist. 

About the Team/Service Location 

The medical physics team is a friendly and supportive group of 15 people. The team has access to modern dosimetry and quality control equipment and software. We work at a high professional standard, and aim to present work at conferences and publish where possible. The team is accredited by the Australasian College of Physical Scientists and Engineers in Medicine (ACPSEM) for postgraduate training of medical physicists. There are currently two trainees on staff and all physicists contribute to training. 

About you 

We are seeking a medical physicist to work across all areas of medical physics practice. The physicist needs to: 

• have completed the ACPSEM training program in radiation oncology medical physics
• hold ACPSEM registration, and ideally,
• have experience working in the clinical environment
