About the Role

We are a community-based service that offers a unique approach blending both cultural and clinical interventions to tangata whaiora māori who are experiencing moderate to severe mental health presentations.

We are looking for a mental health clinician who is passionate about the wellbeing of tamariki, rangatahi and their whānau. This is also a chance to stretch your leadership skills within a Te Ao Māori and Clinical setting.

This is a full-time role with hours split between clinical coordination 0.4fte and mental health clinician 0.6fte,

In the Clinical Coordinator role, you will work alongside our team leader and our cultural korowai roopu to provide clinical support and leadership for our dynamic multidisciplinary team and have oversight of the team’s clinical interventions and caseload.

In your role as a Mental Health clinician (Occupational Therapist/ Psychologist/Psychotherapist/ Registered Nurse/Social Worker) you will provide assessment and interventions for tamariki, rangatahi and their whānau to tautoko positive hauora outcomes.

 About the Team/Service Location

We are a small enthusiastic team from a variety of clinical and cultural backgrounds.  This team is unique in that it includes our Korowai Roopu (Kaumatua, Kuia, Mataora and Kaiwhina) to tautoko the delivery of culturally appropriate interventions in blend with our clinical interventions.  Te Whare Mārie prides itself on being a place of wananga and learning.

Moū – About you

  • You must have New Zealand relevant registration to your area of practice and a minimum of five years’ experience within the mental health Sector.
  • Experience in Child and Adolescent Mental Health is desirable.
  • An understanding of Tikanga Māori is desirable but not essential as this is a great learning environment.
  • It is preferable if you have some leadership experience or be willing to develop you skills in this area.
  • A sense of humour is essential. 
  • You must have knowledge and skills for completing assessment and treatment of mental health difficulties.
