Mental Health Nurse For Te Whare Ahuru
Location: Hutt Hospital
Contract: Permanent, Full Time (1 FTE)

We currently have a vacancy for a motivated Registered Nurse to join our multi-disciplinary team. You will have the opportunity to work on a ward that is known for being a supportive environment and dedicated team. As we are an acute service your role will be varied and allow you to utilise a wide variety of skills. To further support staff with their development we are supportive of ongoing training and professional development for all staff
About the Team/Service Location
Te Whare Ahuru based on Hutt Hospital grounds and provides services for people experiencing an episode of acute mental illness that requires a safe environment with intensive nursing and medical treatment.
The team offers specialist services for people with moderate to severe mental health problems, and offer assessment, treatment and support to assist the individual and their whanau and other support people in their recovery journey with the aim of supporting people back to having their health care provided in primary health care services. The focus of the service is on providing evidenced based treatment interventions for those people who present with more complex needs and higher risks.
The multi-disciplinary team consists of Psychiatrists, registrars, house surgeons, occupational therapists, social workers, nurses and mental health support workers.
About you
We are looking for a motivated registered nurse who enjoys a challenge, has a positive attitude and is able to adapt in a fast paced environment.
Ideal candidates will have a good understanding of trauma and health inequalities affecting many of our patients experiencing mental health distress.
You will be;
- Currently registered and have the ability to practice in a mental health setting.
- Have the right to work in New Zealand.
- Previous experience in mental health.
- Eligible to work in New Zealand.
